Las Vegas temperature market FAQ
- Which weather station settles the Las Vegas temperature markets?
- Kalshi, Robinhood and IBKR markets use Las Vegas Harry Reid International (KLAS).
- How do the Las Vegas temperature markets settle?
- Kalshi settles Las Vegas high and low markets on the official high or low for KLAS's NWS climate location, as reported by The Weather Company (then the National Weather Service). Robinhood and IBKR list ForecastEx Las Vegas temperature contracts, which settle on the Weather Underground Daily Observations table for KLAS: the highest reading of the local calendar day for highs and the lowest for lows. The day is final once Weather Underground publishes the first observation of the next day. Robinhood's hourly HRULAS contracts settle each hour, Central Time, on the last KLAS observation taken after the hour minus 60 minutes and up to the hour, as Weather Underground shows it.
- What are the Kalshi and Robinhood tickers for Las Vegas temperature?
- Kalshi lists the Las Vegas daily high under series KXHIGHTLV and the daily low under KXLOWTLV. Each day is its own event, such as KXHIGHTLV-26OCT16 for October 16, 2026, with one market per strike. On Robinhood and IBKR, the ForecastEx Las Vegas daily high is UHLAS and the daily low ULLAS. Each contract is one strike on one day: UHLAS_101626_80 asks whether the high exceeds 80 °F on October 16, 2026, and ULLAS contracts ask whether the low is below a strike. Robinhood's hourly Las Vegas product is HRULAS.
- What are UHLAS and ULLAS?
- They are the ForecastEx daily high and low temperature products for Las Vegas, listed on Robinhood and IBKR. ForecastEx, not Kalshi, is the exchange. UHLAS contracts ask whether the day's highest temperature at Las Vegas Harry Reid International (KLAS) will exceed a strike, and ULLAS contracts whether the lowest will be below one, with strikes 1 °F apart. Both settle on Weather Underground's Daily Observations table for KLAS for the local calendar day. Kalshi's Las Vegas markets read the same station but settle on the official high or low for its NWS climate location as reported by The Weather Company, not on Weather Underground.
- Can I trade Las Vegas temperature markets on Coinbase?
- Yes. Coinbase lists Kalshi's Las Vegas temperature markets (KXHIGHTLV, KXLOWTLV) under the same tickers: the markets are operated by Kalshi, share Kalshi's order book and settle by Kalshi's rules, on the same station. Coinbase's prediction markets are not available to Nevada or Michigan residents.
