How the HRULAS hour settles

  • The hour T settles on the last observation in the hour before T (after T − 60 min, up to and including T) as Weather Underground publishes it, or the NWS time series for the station when Weather Underground has none. It resolves once the first observation after T is out.
  • A contract asks whether KLAS will exceed the strike, so “above 70°F” needs 71°F or more in whole degrees. The reading is the report's tenths-of-a-degree °C converted to °F and rounded.
  • The hour in the contract is Central Time; this page shows it in local time as well. Each hour trades only in its final ~60 minutes.
  • Prices are ForecastEx's last trades as of MinuteTemp's latest poll, about once a minute; ForecastEx publishes no bid or ask. Until ForecastEx settles an hour, its result here is MinuteTemp's own, from the station's reports. The official settlement value comes from Weather Underground.

HRULAS FAQ

What is HRULAS?
HRULAS is the ForecastEx hourly temperature product for Las Vegas that Robinhood lists. Each hour has 7 contracts asking whether Las Vegas Harry Reid International (KLAS) will exceed a temperature, such as 70 °F, as of the top of the hour in Central Time. ForecastEx, not Kalshi, is the exchange.
How does HRULAS settle?
Each hour T settles on the last observation for KLAS in the hour before T, that is after T − 60 minutes and up to T, as Weather Underground's daily observations page publishes it in whole °F. If Weather Underground has no observation, ForecastEx uses the NWS time series for the station. The contract resolves once Weather Underground publishes the first observation after T.
When does each HRULAS hour trade?
Each hour's contracts trade only in roughly the final 60 minutes before the hour. The hour in the contract is Central Time for every city.
