Miami temperature market FAQ

Which weather station settles the Miami temperature markets?
Kalshi, Robinhood, Polymarket, Polymarket US and IBKR markets use Miami International (KMIA).
How do the Miami temperature markets settle?
Kalshi settles Miami high and low markets on the official high or low for KMIA's NWS climate location, as reported by The Weather Company (then the National Weather Service). Polymarket settles on the hourly data ("Show Hourly Data") of NOAA's weather.gov timeseries for KMIA, in whole °F: the highest reading of the day for daily highs and the lowest for daily lows. Weather Underground's Daily Observations table is used only if NOAA's data for the day is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET the next day. Robinhood and IBKR list ForecastEx Miami temperature contracts, which settle on the Weather Underground Daily Observations table for KMIA: the highest reading of the local calendar day for highs and the lowest for lows. The day is final once Weather Underground publishes the first observation of the next day. Robinhood's hourly HRUMIA contracts settle each hour, Central Time, on the last KMIA observation taken after the hour minus 60 minutes and up to the hour, as Weather Underground shows it. Polymarket US settles Miami daily high markets on the NWS Daily Climate Report (CLI) for KMIA.
What are the Kalshi, Robinhood and Polymarket tickers for Miami temperature?
Kalshi lists the Miami daily high under series KXHIGHMIA and the daily low under KXLOWTMIA. Each day is its own event, such as KXHIGHMIA-26OCT16 for October 16, 2026, with one market per strike. The hourly Miami market, KXTEMPMIAH, settles on the Kalshi Weather Index instead. On Robinhood and IBKR, the ForecastEx Miami daily high is UHMIA and the daily low ULMIA. Each contract is one strike on one day: UHMIA_101626_80 asks whether the high exceeds 80 °F on October 16, 2026, and ULMIA contracts ask whether the low is below a strike. Robinhood's hourly Miami product is HRUMIA. Polymarket has no tickers. Its daily event is titled "Highest temperature in Miami on October 16?" with the slug highest-temperature-in-miami-on-october-16-2026, and the daily low event's slug starts with lowest-temperature-in-miami.
What are UHMIA and ULMIA?
They are the ForecastEx daily high and low temperature products for Miami, listed on Robinhood and IBKR. ForecastEx, not Kalshi, is the exchange. UHMIA contracts ask whether the day's highest temperature at Miami International (KMIA) will exceed a strike, and ULMIA contracts whether the lowest will be below one, with strikes 1 °F apart. Both settle on Weather Underground's Daily Observations table for KMIA for the local calendar day. Kalshi's Miami markets read the same station but settle on the official high or low for its NWS climate location as reported by The Weather Company, not on Weather Underground.
Can I trade Miami temperature markets on Coinbase?
Yes. Coinbase lists Kalshi's Miami temperature markets (KXHIGHMIA, KXLOWTMIA and the hourly KXTEMPMIAH) under the same tickers: the markets are operated by Kalshi, share Kalshi's order book and settle by Kalshi's rules, on the same station. Coinbase's prediction markets are not available to Nevada or Michigan residents.
How often does minuteTemp update Miami?
KMIA updates every minute. Paid plans refresh the dashboard every 60 seconds; the free plan is delayed 3 minutes.
