Dallas temperature market FAQ
- Which weather station settles the Dallas temperature markets?
- Polymarket markets use Dallas Love Field (KDAL). Kalshi, Robinhood and IBKR markets use Dallas/Fort Worth International (KDFW).
- How do the Dallas temperature markets settle?
- Polymarket settles on the hourly data ("Show Hourly Data") of NOAA's weather.gov timeseries for KDAL, in whole °F: the highest reading of the day for daily highs and the lowest for daily lows. Weather Underground's Daily Observations table is used only if NOAA's data for the day is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET the next day. Kalshi settles Dallas high and low markets on the official high or low for KDFW's NWS climate location, as reported by The Weather Company (then the National Weather Service). Robinhood and IBKR list ForecastEx Dallas temperature contracts, which settle on the Weather Underground Daily Observations table for KDFW: the highest reading of the local calendar day for highs and the lowest for lows. The day is final once Weather Underground publishes the first observation of the next day.
- What are the Kalshi, Robinhood and Polymarket tickers for Dallas temperature?
- Kalshi lists the Dallas daily high under series KXHIGHTDAL and the daily low under KXLOWTDAL. Each day is its own event, such as KXHIGHTDAL-26OCT16 for October 16, 2026, with one market per strike. On Robinhood and IBKR, the ForecastEx Dallas daily high is UHDFW and the daily low ULDFW. Each contract is one strike on one day: UHDFW_101626_80 asks whether the high exceeds 80 °F on October 16, 2026, and ULDFW contracts ask whether the low is below a strike. Polymarket has no tickers. Its daily event is titled "Highest temperature in Dallas on October 16?" with the slug highest-temperature-in-dallas-on-october-16-2026, and the daily low event's slug starts with lowest-temperature-in-dallas.
- What are UHDFW and ULDFW?
- They are the ForecastEx daily high and low temperature products for Dallas, listed on Robinhood and IBKR. ForecastEx, not Kalshi, is the exchange. UHDFW contracts ask whether the day's highest temperature at Dallas/Fort Worth International (KDFW) will exceed a strike, and ULDFW contracts whether the lowest will be below one, with strikes 1 °F apart. Both settle on Weather Underground's Daily Observations table for KDFW for the local calendar day. Kalshi's Dallas markets read the same station but settle on the official high or low for its NWS climate location as reported by The Weather Company, not on Weather Underground.
- Can I trade Dallas temperature markets on Coinbase?
- Yes. Coinbase lists Kalshi's Dallas temperature markets (KXHIGHTDAL, KXLOWTDAL) under the same tickers: the markets are operated by Kalshi, share Kalshi's order book and settle by Kalshi's rules, on the same station. Coinbase's prediction markets are not available to Nevada or Michigan residents.
- How often does minuteTemp update Dallas?
- KDAL updates temperature every minute, wind and humidity every 5 minutes. KDFW updates temperature every minute, wind and humidity every 5 minutes. Paid plans refresh the dashboard every 60 seconds; the free plan is delayed 3 minutes.
